Use water in place of milk for a parve version. Prep time includes standing time.

Ingredients
4 cups bread cubes
2 cups hot water or skim milk
2/3 cups brown sugar
1/2 cups raisins
2 apples, thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large egg whites, beaten until just foamy
Directions
- Combine bread cubes, raisins, and apples in large bowl. Add water or milk and sugar.
- Mix thoroughly and let stand for 30 minutes. Add egg whites, cinnamon, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly and pour into a 1 1/2-quart sprayed casserole.
- Bake at 350 degrees (F), uncovered for 45 minutes until set and lightly browned
