Apple Crisp

Apple crisp is wonderful anytime but is well suited for festive holidays like Purim and Hanukkah.

Ingredients

2 1/2 lbs. tart apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 tbs lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon, ground
1 tsp lemon zest
2 tbs honey

Topping
6 tbs butter, cut into 1/2” pieces
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. Mix apple slices with lemon juice, cinnamon, lemon zest and honey and arrange evenly in lightly oiled 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Mix topping ingredients thoroughly and spread evenly over the apple mix.
  3. Bake at 375 degrees (F) for 40 minutes. Topping should be browned and crisp and apples should be soft.
  4. Serve warm.
