Ingredients

1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chocolate chips (parve)
1 cup. chopped walnuts
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tbs cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup water
1/2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Boil the dates and baking soda in 1 cup water, then set aside.
  2. Combine eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla with cooled date mixture
  3. Next, add flour, salt and cocoa powder and mix lightly.
  4. Stir in half of each of the walnuts, chocolate chips and spread evenly in a greased 9 x 12 in baking dish.
  5. Spread the remaining walnuts and chocolate chips over the top and bake at 350 degrees (F) for 35 minutes. Cake is done when an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
