Parve dessert is nice for Rosh Hashanah or just anytime.

Ingredients
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup chocolate chips (parve)
1 cup. chopped walnuts
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tbs cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup water
1/2 tsp salt
Directions
- Boil the dates and baking soda in 1 cup water, then set aside.
- Combine eggs, sugar, oil and vanilla with cooled date mixture
- Next, add flour, salt and cocoa powder and mix lightly.
- Stir in half of each of the walnuts, chocolate chips and spread evenly in a greased 9 x 12 in baking dish.
- Spread the remaining walnuts and chocolate chips over the top and bake at 350 degrees (F) for 35 minutes. Cake is done when an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
