Apple Dulce (Candy)

This easy to make apple candy is great for Purim or Rosh Hashanah.

Ingredients

5 apples, peeled and sliced
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
Juice of 1/2 lemon
6 whole cloves

Directions

  1. Boil water and sugar until it thickens slightly.
  2. Stir in lemon juice to the sugar mixture.
  3. Add apple slices into the syrup and cook. Apples should not be fully cooked - they should still be firm.
  4. Remove from heat, add cloves and let cool.
  5. Refrigerate before serving.
