Ingredients

6 cups flour
2 pkgs active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tsp salt
1 tbs sugar
3 cups water
2 tbs oil
Sugar and cinnamon for topping

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in 1 cup of warm water, then add salt and sugar.
  2. Pour 3 cups water into a large bowl and add the yeast mixture. Add the flour gradually, working it in thoroughly until dough is smooth and soft
  3. Cover the dough with a towel and set aside in a warm spot to rise for 1 hour.
  4. Take a portion of dough about the size of a large walnut.
  5. Work the dough into a small donut shape, making a hole in the center with a finger.
  6. Place the dough in hot oil and cook until golden brown, turning once.
  7. Drain excess oil on paper towels then sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
