Green Beans with Almonds

Ingredients

1 lb green beans, fresh
4 cups water
3 tbl. peanut oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp. cumin
1/4 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1 tbl. almonds, slivered
Salt, to taste

Directions

  1. Wash green beans and trim the ends.
  2. Simmer in lightly salted water until just tender, about 30-45 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Place remaining ingredients (except almonds) in a saucepan over medium heat and cook for two minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Add the almonds and stir briefly to coat.
  5. Pour the mixture over the green beans and toss until beans are well coated.
