Apple Bread Pudding

Ingredients

4 cups bread, buttered and cut into 1 in. cubes
2 cups milk (hot)
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
2 apples, sliced thin
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 egg whites

Directions

  1. Place half of the bread cubes in a greased shallow 2-qt. baking dish and top with half of the chopped apples.
  2. Repeat layers, using remaining bread cubes and chopped apple.
  3. In a large bowl, lightly beat milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. Pour over bread and apples.
  4. Bake 1 hour at 375 degrees (F) or until knife inserted 1" from edge of dish, comes out clean.
