Apple is a great fall fruit and Apple cake makes a great sukkot dessert.

Ingredients
2 lb. finely sliced apples
1.5 cups wheat flour
1-1/4 cups milk, lukewarm
1 cup + 2 tbl. sugar
4 eggs
1 cup hazelnuts, ground
1 cup almonds, skinless and finely sliced
1 cup raisins, golden or black
A few drops of vanilla extract
1 tbl cinnamon
1 pinch nutmeg
1 pinch ginger
2 tsp. rum
Juice of two lemons
Pinch of salt
Butter flakes
Directions
- Mix the sliced apples, raisins and lemon juice in a bowl and set aside (the lemon juice should keeps the apples from turning brown)
- In a seperate bowl mix the flour and milk, eggs (add one at a time), 1 cup sugar, vanilla, rum, spices, salt and ground hazelnuts. Mix well.
- Drain apples and raisins and add them to the flour mixture. Mix well and pour into baking dish.
- Sprinkle the sliced almonds, 2 tbsp. sugar and some butter flakes on the top.
- Bake one hour at 350 degrees (F).
