Figs with Honey

This recipe was taken from our son's classroom recipe book! It's easy to prepare and great if you have a fondness for sweets.

Ingredients

12 dried figs, pitted
1/3 cup honey
2 tbl slivered almonds, toasted

Directions

  1. Put figs in a shallow sauce pan and add just enough water to cover
  2. Bring to a boil
  3. Reduce heat and simmer covered for 20 minutes
  4. Let cool 20 minutes uncovered (remove from heat)
  5. Drain and transfer figs to a baking dish
  6. Drizzle honey over figs and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes
  7. Sprinkle toasted almonds
  8. Serve warm and enjoy
