Ingredients
4 medium apples, peeled, cored and sliced
2 cups pecans or almonds, coarsely ground
1 pound of pitted dates
1/2 cup sweet red wine
1/4 cup vinegar
Directions
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the apples and the date. Add cold water to cover the fruit.
- Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender and almost all the water is evaporated.
- Grind the apples and dates in a food processor and transfer to a medium-sized bowl.
- Add the nuts, vinegar, and wine. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more wine or vinegar.
