There are many varieties of charoset and this version is very easy to make.

1 lb raisins
8 oz. dates, pitted
2 cups water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped


  1. Mix raisins and dates and soak in water for 1 hour
  2. Blend fruit in food processor with sugar until chopped well
  3. Transfer to saucepan and simmer until fruits are cooked
  4. Stir in chopped nuts
