6 matzoh squares, broken in pieces
2 eggs, separated
1 apple, peeled and diced
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
Salt, to taste
Sugar, to taste


  1. Cover matzohs with water then squeeze out as much as possible. Add apple and shortening.
  2. Beat yolks into matzoh mixture, season with salt and sugar to taste.
  3. Beat egg whites until stiff, then gently fold into matzoh mixture.
  4. Pour into greased casserole dish and bake at 300 degrees (F) about 1 hr. or until top has an even brown crust.
