About Me:

Stuart Joseph
I am married to Veda Crewe Joseph. I have been a performer for more than 40 years as an actor, a folk singer, Master of Ceremonies, comedian, vaudeville/burlesque comic and a magician. I have turned my attention to researching and performing historical styles of acts, especially magic as The Great Scot, Bardic Magician at Renaissance Faires, (including the Vermont Renaissance Festival), Scottish, Celtic, and other Festivals, private parties, schools and libraries. I studied Theatre and English at the University of Miami. I received a BA in History and Music from Adelphi University. I also studied magic performance and techniques with world class magicians, Jeff McBride, Jonathan Pendragon, Lance Burton, Jim Cellini, Gazzo the Great, and Matthew Taylor. My other interests revolve around popular culture such as movies, old time radio, early TV, vaudeville, and burlesque comedy. I helped write recreations of an old time radio show and a 1950's television variety show. I also chose and edited the film clips of old tv shows and commercials used in the show. I appeared in a number of the OTR and TV sketches and was the MC for the TV show. I got interested in baking bread through the book "Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes A Day" and then started baking cookies. Being a transplanted Long Islander, I had bemoaned the fact that there were a lot of things from bakeries that I missed. When I started baking, I realized that I could make all those things that I missed- which then started me cooking. Now I want to make a corned beef and pastrami from scratch/ Veda and I live in beautiful and historic Bellows Falls Vermont in a Queen Anne Victorian house that we have restored. We share our home with 2 wire haired fox terriers named Beau and Duffy (MacDuff). I grew up on Long Island and Miami Beach.
