This Iraqi pastry is a popular Purim treat.

Ingredients

3 cups whole almond
1 cup sugar
1 tbl ground cardamom
2 tbl rose water or orange blossom water
1 package phyllo pastry

Directions

  1. Grind the almonds and mix together with all the ingredients. The mixture should be moist.
  2. Cut the phyllo in 3 parts and cover with a damp towel.
  3. Take one piece of phyllo and fold it about 2 inches from the bottom up. Put one tablespoon of the almond mixture and roll.
  4. Bake in a preheated over at 350 degrees (F) for 10 minutes, until light golden in color.
